We Love our Volunteers!

The Castaways don't only raise funds for other charities, we support them by providing volunteers for many events and organizations. Here are some of our members that have been recognized for the time they've spent within the community, living up to the slogan "Serving Community Roles with Caribbean Souls!"

Unsung Heroes Awards

Jan Hall, our Treasurer for many years, was honored for her work with the Southernmost Coconut Castaways.

Brad Kurpjweit and Roxanne Wood were recognized for their work with Tropic Cinema.

Helena Poist was recognized for her work with Habitat for Humanity of Key West and Lower Florida Keys.

Steve Russ was recognized for his work with the Navy League.

Plogging the Keys

The Castaways care deeply about the Keys and a number of us volunteer weekly with Plogging with the Keys on Fridays. We also have an Adopt-a-Spot at which we hold clean-ups multiple times a year; our spot is the VFW on North Roosevelt. Keep Key West Beautiful, which is run by the city and an affiliate of Keep America Beautiful, recently honored us for our efforts. Plogging in the Keys was started in part by Brian Fields (not pictured), who is not only a member of the Castaways but one of our Member Musicians.

The people pictured below are just a small sampling of the participants in our various clean-ups.
